My name is Kristyn. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist working at TD Psychological & Counselling Services. I started with TD Psychological & Counselling Services during my pre-masters internship and am very happy to be continuing my journey as a provisional psychologist with this amazing clinic.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Calgary, completing my Masters of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology this past spring. My time at the University of Calgary provided me with detailed knowledge and practical skills in working with children and families and conducting psychoeducational assessments.

I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings supporting children and families, including in the non-profit sector, the education system, and in private clinics. My time working in the non-profit sector allowed me to gain experience supporting children and families who are living with trauma, and experiencing barriers such as low income living, lack of housing, addiction issues, and more. It is here that I learned the importance of utilizing a trauma informed lens in my practice. My time at Edmonton Catholic Schools provided me with opportunities to support a wide range of children including children experiencing developmental disabilities, learning struggles, emotional disorders, trauma, and severe behavioural concerns.

Working in private practice I have been able to further develop my skills in the areas of psychoeducational assessment and counselling. I currently support clients of all ages, with a special focus on children’s therapy and psychoeducational assessment. I have a passion for identifying and supporting learning, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, and I apply my knowledge and passion in these areas to my work with children and families at TD Psychological & Counselling Services.

Teen & Adult Therapy

With over 10 years of experience in educational settings, I specialize in supporting school-aged adolescents, their families and adults. I have worked as a School Counsellor providing individual services to children and teens, and as a District Counsellor, where I offered both direct and consultative services on mental health initiatives, programming, and policy development. Now, I am excited to expand my practice and offer counselling services to new clients at TD Psychological & Counselling Services.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with teens and adults who are navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, overwhelming emotions, family and relationship trauma, and struggles with finding meaning and purpose. My clinical focus includes anxiety and panic disorders, mood disorders, procrastination, process addictions, productivity challenges, relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, social-skills development, loneliness, work-related stress, and existential questions.

I am particularly passionate about the role of sleep in mental health and well-being. My research, conducted during my Master of Science in Applied Psychology, deepened my interest in integrating evidence-based strategies into my practice. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and I continue to apply this expertise to help clients improve their sleep habits and overall mental health.

In my work, I take a person-centered and solution-focused approach, tailoring my methods to the unique needs of each individual. My therapeutic style is built on compassion, empathy, and a commitment to understanding you, without judgment. I draw from a variety of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Positive Psychology, with a strong emphasis on self-compassion and helping clients achieve their goals.

If you’re seeking support with life’s challenges, I look forward to working with you in a collaborative and empowering way to help you make meaningful progress.
