Kristyn Gannon
As a registered psychologist, I provide counselling and comprehensive psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families at TD Psychological Services. My clinical areas of focus include emotion regulation, anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, trauma, self-esteem and self-image, relationship concerns, therapeutic play, and psychological assessment.
I am particularly passionate about providing high-quality psychological assessment services across the lifespan. I completed my Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary, where I received extensive training in formal psychoeducational and psychological assessment. My graduate training, combined with my ongoing clinical experience as a registered psychologist, has provided me with strong theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in assessment, diagnostic formulation, and individualized recommendations to support learning, mental health, and daily functioning for children, adolescents, and adults.
Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of settings supporting children and families, including non-profit organizations and educational environments. My work in the non-profit sector allowed me to support individuals and families impacted by trauma and systemic barriers such as financial insecurity, housing instability, and substance-related challenges. These experiences shaped my strong commitment to practicing from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens. My experience in educational settings has included working with children presenting with developmental disabilities, learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural disorders, trauma histories, and complex support needs, strengthening my collaborative approach with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams.
I have a strong passion for providing counselling services to children and hold a Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills through the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute. My approach to therapeutic play is grounded in the principles of Child-Centered Play Therapy and Adlerian Play Therapy, and I incorporate a range of modalities including sand tray, puppetry, art and creative expression, therapeutic storytelling, and structured therapeutic games. I view play as a roadmap to a child’s inner world, allowing children to communicate experiences, process emotions, and explore identity in ways that feel natural and safe, even when verbal expression is limited.
In my work with adolescents and adults, I take a client-centered and collaborative approach, emphasizing safety, trust, and empowerment within the therapeutic relationship. I integrate evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This integrative approach allows me to tailor treatment to each client’s goals, helping them strengthen emotional regulation, develop coping strategies, and make meaningful, values-based changes.
I also provide couples counselling using the Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach focused on strengthening friendship, improving communication, managing conflict effectively, and building shared meaning within relationships. I support couples in identifying unhelpful interaction patterns, increasing emotional connection, and developing practical skills to navigate challenges in a respectful and supportive way. My approach to couples therapy is structured, compassionate, and collaborative, with an emphasis on fostering understanding, trust, and long- term relationship resilience.

Teen & Adult Therapy
With over 10 years of experience in educational settings, I specialize in supporting school-aged adolescents, their families and adults. I have worked as a School Counsellor providing individual services to children and teens, and as a District Counsellor, where I offered both direct and consultative services on mental health initiatives, programming, and policy development. Now, I am excited to expand my practice and offer counselling services to new clients at TD Psychological & Counselling Services.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with teens and adults who are navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, overwhelming emotions, family and relationship trauma, and struggles with finding meaning and purpose. My clinical focus includes anxiety and panic disorders, mood disorders, procrastination, process addictions, productivity challenges, relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, social-skills development, loneliness, work-related stress, and existential questions.
I am particularly passionate about the role of sleep in mental health and well-being. My research, conducted during my Master of Science in Applied Psychology, deepened my interest in integrating evidence-based strategies into my practice. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and I continue to apply this expertise to help clients improve their sleep habits and overall mental health.
In my work, I take a person-centered and solution-focused approach, tailoring my methods to the unique needs of each individual. My therapeutic style is built on compassion, empathy, and a commitment to understanding you, without judgment. I draw from a variety of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Positive Psychology, with a strong emphasis on self-compassion and helping clients achieve their goals.
If you’re seeking support with life’s challenges, I look forward to working with you in a collaborative and empowering way to help you make meaningful progress.
